CALMING OAT MILK TEA RECIPE

IMG_1791.JPG

Here is a delicious calming drink that can soothe the nerves and make your day more relaxed! I teach this to a lot of clientele via phone chats when we cannot just be there to help them when there is too much anxiety, stress or just feeling simply overrun from everyday life.

This is super easy and helping yourself creates amazing intentions to your ever healing body. I use any type of oatmeal (Avena sativa)! Yes, actual oatmeal! Steel cut, or not! Any type works and all types release a beautiful mucilaginous, milky substance to help soothe and coat the central nervous systems sheaths.

Normally, most people have oats somewhere in their house! You can use Gluten free oats as well!

CALMING OAT MILK TEA RECIPE

-I add 1 tsp of oats to one cup of warmed milk, any type of milk, your choice or even water works, too.

-If possible I add, Cinnamon ~ (Cinnamomum verum)

-Vanilla Bean Powder ~ (Vanilla planifolia)

-more Milky Oat Tops ~ (Avena sativa) this is the part of the Avena sativa plant used in Herbalist Traditions where we harvest the tops in the springtime for their delicious milky substance that you can literally pinch out with your fingers. Imagine your actual body being coated!

-and, when able, I also add Marshmallow Root ~ (Althaea officinalis) which has beneficial, mucilaginous properties that are also excellent for stomach and gut issues. The mind/gut connection is real.

-If needed, add a sweetener, I luv maple syrup in mine (especially when a sweet Herbal Sistar provides it!)

This is the drink that is the relief for the stressful Holidays to come! Drinking this now will help lessen our fight or flight response.

LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE AND MEDICINE BE THY FOOD!

Have some fun, add in some other herbs! Nutmeg? Cannabis? Don’t be shy! You know you want too!

Whisk occasionally while letting it simmer, without burning your milk, for a good half hour to forty-five minutes. In a pinch, steep in a cup for 3-5 minutes and enjoy!

Mine is simmering now, anyone wanna join me for a cup?!
